What is an Umu Box?

The Pacific is vast, and islanders often have to travel thousand of miles in search of work and education. Families can be separated for long periods, and sometimes, it’s hard not to feel homesick.

Their answer - the Umu Box. A great big package full of goodies from home. Originally filled with mum’s favourite taro recipe or lots of other island dishes, its now as likely to contain a piece of hand crafted pāua from your favourite aunty, a carved kauri box from granddad or a tapa cloth lava-lava from your sister. A little piece of home away from home!

Are you one of a small community of knitters? It doesn’t have to be a formal association such as a Stitch’n’Bitch or Knit’n’Natter group, although it might be. It could be a bunch of like minded friends or family who love knitting as much as you do. If this is you, our Umu Box is just what you need.

Here’s how it works.

When you order an Umu Box, we ask that you make a minimum spend of £300.00 from our range, subject to availability.

Now the good bit starts. By ordering an Umu Box containing items to a value of between £300 and £500 your group gets an automatic 10% off the web site price of everything in it. Yes, everything! And there are more good bits. The shipment is P+P free. When we send it, we’ll only charge you half the box’s value.  After a month, we will charge the remaining half.

That’s one month interest free.

Purchase items to a value of between £500 or above and two further things happen. The discount rises to 15% and you get to pay in three instalments. An initial 50%, 25% a month later and the final 25% a full month after that.

That’s two months interest free.

So  … between 10% and 15% off all items

  … longer to pay on larger orders with up to two months interest free

   … and no P+P

A package brimful of goodies indeed!

And remember.

You don’t have to confine yourself to yarn. You can add patterns, kits, knitwear, teddy bears, knitting needles; anything you like, just so long as it is currently in our range. The savings apply to the whole Umu Box.

Have enough yarn - but still want to order an Umu box?

We’re a yarn manufacturer, but we understand that sometimes you just want finished items.

That’s why we sell them. So, if you have enough yarn to be getting on with just now, but want to buy other items … maybe for a fundraising or similar group event, you can still have an Umu Box. All we ask is that your alternative items fall within our pricing rules. Simple!
